BECOME A TRADER AT NORTHAMPTON MARKET

Becoming a Market Trader is a great way to start up your own business with very little cost or overheads. Here at Northampton Market, we encourage new ideas and unusual lines and we will try to fit you in the best place for your stall, to complement you and all the Traders surrounding you.

What to do next

Once you have decided what you want to sell, it’s time to think about which days you would like to trade. We are open Tuesday through to Saturday. Monday is fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers and plants only

You will need to get Public Liability Insurance covering up to £5 million and provide proof of cover. There are many insurance companies who offer this cover, including The National Market Traders Federation £88 per year and Combined Market Traders Insurance Association £47.00 per year.

Our stalls are 9’0” by 9’6” and boards and trestles are available for you to use. You will want to think about the best way to set out your stall to catch your customers’ eye and to maximize the most of the area you have.

Casual Traders MUST contact the Market Office before standing.

We open 8am to 4.30pm on Tuesday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturday.

All Traders new to Northampton Market start as Casual Traders. After a minimum of 4 weeks of regular trading, Casual Traders can apply to become a permanent Trader and if successful will be granted a Licence To Trade on Northampton Market.
